Reimagining Men, Health and Power: Troubling Disciplinary Norms and Traditions

This year's conference seeks to open conversations about men's health and its relationship to power. As part of this call, we seek to find new ways of reimagining how to address men's health and associated inequities, while also paying careful attention to the role of power in these discussions. The conference offers an opportunity for participants to present new ways of thinking and understanding men, health and power through conference papers, presentations and posters. At the same time, we are also inviting participants to suggest and lead on creative and innovative ways where men, health and power can be reimagined. By the term men, we are inclusive of all experiences of men and masculinity, including trans men, non-binary and gender-diverse people, and trans masculine people.

Conference Registration Information

For the past decade or more, AMSA has maintained a consistent fee structure for our annual conference. Even when faced with increasing costs, we have kept registration fees stable. In fact, during the past few years, AMSA actually reduced its already low costs to support those impacted by the pandemic and inflation. While we stand by our past decisions to support our members and the wider men's studies community, we are unfortunately in a position where maintaining our previous fee structure is untenable as an organization.

In short, without changing our fee structure, we would be unable to continue our more than thirty-year tradition of offering an engaging and meaningful annual conference dedicated to the critical study of men and masculinities. As such, we have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to re-assess our fee structure.

  • Student Registration (proof of student status required) = $235
  • Member registration = $325
  • Non-member registration = $400

In addition to conference attendance, each registration option includes the following meals:

  • Three breakfasts (June 14, 15, 16)
  • Two lunches (June 14, 15)
  • One dinner (June 14)

If you are not yet a member and would like to take advantage of the member discount for conference registration, be sure to JOIN AMSA prior to registering for the conference. Membership in AMSA costs $50, so you can save money while also gaining access to members-only benefits such as our database of course syllabi, our membership directory, and additional member benefits being developed.
